Salishan Leaseholders and their guests enjoy access to the beach at designed spots along the spit that are on SLI property and as such are open to all leaseholders for use. Because of seasonal changes and the construction of revetments along the ocean front, some of these access points can be closed for safety.

Please don’t walk on neighboring properties and be respectful of adjoining leaseholds. For leaseholder beach access click here.

Waves and Beach Hazards

For your safety:

• Never turn your back to the waves when near the water.
• Logs come ashore frequently and can easily cause an injury or worse.
• Never play or let children climb on a log near the water.
• Be aware of the potential of sneaker waves that can knock a person down and pull them from the shore.
• The ocean is very cold.
• Even good swimmers may have difficulty getting back ashore if pulled out by a rip tide.

Beach Fires

Oregon beaches are public lands up to the vegetation line so regulations about beach fires are dictated by the State Fire Marshal and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

• Ensure your beach fire is away from other combustibles and keep it relatively small.
• Note the wind direction.
• Locate the fire well away from other vegetation near the upland shore.
• Make sure fire is extinguished before departure.
• If you see what you believe is an unsafe fire, please notify patrol staff without delay.

The Community Center is used for board and other community meetings and social gatherings. Watch the calendar for upcoming events.

Leaseholders can also rent the Community Center for private events. The fee is $200 for the first four hours with a $500 refundable security deposit.

The Community Center swimming pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Pool hours are from 10 am to 5:30pm.

Access the pool through the gate on the Southeast corner of the community facility with your gate card or entry code.

Pool reminders:

• There is no lifeguard on duty
• Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult
• Pets are not allowed in the clubhouse or pool area
• No food or drinks are allowed in the pool area or pool deck
• No glassware or bottles are allowed in the pool area
• Use the outside shower area by the gate to remove sand before entering
• Special hours have been made for lap swimmers and adults:
  • 10 am-11 am: Lap swim only
  • 11 am-12 pm: Adults only
  • 12 pm-5:30 pm (closing): Open swim

There are two tennis courts that can be converted to pickleball at the end of Shore Pine Court. As weather permits the tennis courts may be reserved through an on-line system managed by one of our leaseholders. Please read the instructions here then register for the Yourcourts scheduler. Ensure you use your Salishan house address when signing up for this booking system.

Courts are reserved through the scheduler from 10am-5pm. Outside of those hours the courts are available for drop in on a first come, first served basis.

Please be courteous of nearby homeowners and golfers keeping the noise level at a reasonable level.

The basketball court is north of the Community Center on the east side of Salishan Drive; a nice swing set is also located in this area and can be used on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The golf course belongs to Salishan Coastal Lodge and is not part of Salishan. When out walking or biking, please give golfers a wide berth to avoid being struck and injured by golf balls. If you would like to use the golf course, or any of the facilities at the Lodge, please stop into the Pro Shop and inquire about tee times or memberships.
