Salishan relies on these volunteer committees made up of many leaseholders who contribute their time and expertise to the community. Below is an overview of the purpose of each committee. If you are interested in volunteering to serve on any committee, reach out to a board member or the committee chair or attend an upcoming meeting. Many of the committees have open meetings and are listed on the Salishan calendar.
Purpose: The Architectural Committee (AC) oversees the review and approval of alterations, renovations, additions, new construction, landscaping, tree removal, and other exterior improvements in accordance with the Uniform Lease and the founding vision of Salishan. Through thoughtful design review, the AC helps preserve the unique character of the community while ensuring that development remains in harmony with the natural beauty of the Oregon coast.
Membership: The Uniform Lease provides for an Architectural Committee consisting of five Leaseholders in good standing. The Lease states, in part:
“For the protection of all Lessees, Salishan, Inc. wishes through the Architectural Committee to make certain that any development of a homesite will be consistent with its plan for Salishan.”
Committee members, including the Chair, are appointed by the Board of Directors. Members may serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.
Meetings: The Architectural Committee meets on the third Thursday of each month, January through November.
Application reviews are conducted in closed session. Leaseholders are welcome to submit written comments or questions to the Committee at any time.

Mission: To ensure the safety, accessibility, and long-term sustainability of Salishan’s beach access points through proactive maintenance, monitoring, and collaboration with the Oceanfront Committee, Financial Advisory Committee, and the SLI Board of Directors.
Membership: The committee is composed of at least three members, including one Board liaison for renewable two-year terms. The chair is appointed by the Board.
Meetings: Meetings are held the 3rd Friday of the month from 10:30-noon in the Community Center and via Zoom. Open to all leaseholders.

Beach Access Committee Minutes
Purpose: The Care and Appearance (C&A) Committee supports the SLI Board of Directors and management in maintaining the care and appearance standards set forth in the Uniform Lease and SLI policies. The Committee helps ensure that homes, improvements, landscaping, and grounds are maintained in a neat, attractive, and well-kept manner and that all changes are approved in advance by the
Architectural Committee. The Committee’s work is intended to promote fairness, consistency, and voluntary compliance while protecting the character and beauty of the Salishan community.
Membership: Five members (with at least three members), including one Board liaison, renewable two-year terms.
Meetings: As needed to review observations, coordinate with management, and discuss unresolved issues. Held monthly through the summer and semi-monthly the rest of year.

Mission: To foster a well-informed, engaged, and connected community at SLI through the timely, accurate, and consistent dissemination of information. The Communication Committee aims to ensure every resident is aware of important news, events, and official SLI business, while also promoting a sense of neighborly connection and shared responsibility for our unique oceanfront environment.
Membership: The committee is composed of at least three (3) and no more than seven (7) members in good standing. Members are asked to commit to a two-year term, with the option to renew. The Committee Chair is appointed by the Board of Directors to lead meetings, set agendas, and serve as the primary liaison to the Board.
Meetings: The committee meets monthly, or more frequently as needed. Meetings are open to leaseholders. Minutes will be taken and made available to the Board and, upon request, to residents.

Mission: To provide independent financial oversight, strategic guidance, and disciplined stewardship of Salishan Leaseholders Inc.’s fiscal performance and financial resources, to ensure long-term fiscal stability, transparency, and responsible management of community assets.
Purpose: The Financial Advisory Committee (FAC) is a standing committee established by the SLI Board of Directors to oversee and advise on fiscal performance and financial management, budgeting, cash flow and investment administration, and capital planning. The Committee serves as a fiduciary partner to the Treasurer and the Board.
Membership: The committee consists of five members (with a minimum of three members), including one Board liaison. The terms are renewable two-year terms. The chair is appointed by the Board.
Meetings: Monthly, often more frequently. To attend, leaseholders can send a request to the FAC chair in advance to receive the Zoom link.

Purpose: The Oceanfront Committee (‘OFC’) is established to advocate for and steward the Salishan oceanfront. The committee works to protect the shoreline environment, enhance access, support responsible revetment practices, and strengthen relationships between leaseholders, governing bodies, and regulatory agencies. Through the work of the OFC, the safety, accessibility, and sustainability of the Salishan oceanfront will be enhanced for current and future generations.
Membership: The OFC consists of members appointed by the board and will meet regularly to review progress, address emerging issues, and propose new initiatives. Minutes decisions and recommendations will be documented and presented to the board for consideration and approval. A Committee Chair will be appointed by the Board to set agendas, lead meetings and liaison to the board. Members serve renewable two-year terms.
Meetings: Generally monthly, OFC meetings are open to all.
